Benefits of Tinting Your Car

Canadian Tint Laws

Please refer to the table for Ontario’s window tint regulations.

Note: In Ontario, the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) uses the term “unobscured” when referencing window visibility. This gives law enforcement officers the discretion to assess whether your tint obstructs visibility. While enforcement is generally practical, tickets are most commonly issued for tints darker than 20%. However, officers have the authority to ticket any level of tint they deem excessive. It is the vehicle owner’s responsibility to ensure their vehicle remains in compliance with the HTA.
